When the dawn runs warm, enticing me to stay out longer on my early-morning dog walk, this is spring. Where the daffodils bloom, nodding their yellow heads like peaceful, murmuring monks, they are spring. Who will share the spring day with their neighbor, walking past fellow homes doused in sunlight, past those who nod their heads in peace? Lantern farms is amidst a spring awakening that we have long waited for.
With this new spring we have new business to attend to. We have a fresh round of letters going out later this spring addressing any policy or code changes, community landscape details to be shared, notices about neighborhood dues for 2021 and the chance for upcoming social events this year. We have updated our Lantern Farms directory with correct names, addresses, phone numbers and emails as best we can.
I fling open my garage door to greet my 40-year old white bike, waiting for me to pump up the tires and don my helmet for a Lantern Farms refresher. I love to pedal the streets, keeping an eye out for children around the corner, mothers out the door, grandma over the garden, fathers at the lawn and grandpa chipping balls in the back yard, occasionally chipping a pesky dandelion as he grins.
We have all been through maybe one of the longest years of our lives. This time last year we were looking about a bit astonished at how quickly our world had changed. Fishers was on a lockdown, local and national news counted the number of Covid-19 infections by the minute, restaurants and businesses closed, people out of work. Let us embrace the new spring as we embrace each other, serving neighbors in need while savoring our friendships.
What are you waiting for?
