Wonder where your property tax dollars go? They are divided between several government units with each one setting their own tax rate* based on budgets and reviewed and approved by state auditors. These rates usually change each year as their budgets change.

Every government unit is required to hold a public hearing before their annual budget is adopted.

*Tax rates are dollars and cents per $100 of assessed valuation^. In the chart below the County tax rate is just over .28 cents per $100.
