Greetings From the New Board President

Good Day to All my Lantern Farms Family, Friends and Neighbors,

My name is John Riggio and I am the new President of the Lantern Farms Property Owners Association. I have lived here with my wife Sherry since 2001, and we’ve seen all three of our children grow up and move out and on to lives of their own.

We love it here for so many good reasons. We love the size and location of the neighborhood, 85 homes nestled near Conner Prairie, our local New Britton Elementary School and adjacent to other fine neighborhoods and a growing shopping district down the road. We love our neighbors, families like ours that have chosen to be here for years and all of the new families that have moved in, bringing new life and light to Lantern Farms.

I am a past board member and board president, albeit many years ago and I have been eyeing the Vacancy signs on the board for several months, certainly eyeing them for too long. I volunteered to step into the role of president as that seemed the most pressing position to fill. I feel a commitment to my neighbors and to our neighborhood, to maintain safety, sound home values and a sense of community that is missing in too many neighborhoods like ours.

Am I the best person for the role? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe it is one of my neighbors, raising his children in a loving, nurturing way while providing for them an excellent standard of living. Maybe it the other one of my neighbors, a caring, older couple now caring so much for each other. Any one of us has the same role to play, the same commitment and responsibility to protect our home and families while still serving others.

There have been mistakes made by some in the past, whether it be policies, funding, spending, special projects and assessments or miscommunications between board members and residents. It is not easy to step into a volunteer role and know how to exactly take care of any situation that comes our way. By far the majority of the board has been composed of hard-working sincere volunteers who have contributed time and effort to better our community.

For those past misunderstandings and for any errors, I personally apologize to any and all affected and pray that we can learn from our past to better pave the way for a brighter future. I see struggles in our society at large right now. Our country is currently going through an incredible challenge right now and we can best face these national challenges by being more secure at home.

I am sincerely sorry for the difficulties in the past and intend, as part of one of the best assembled boards EVER to make the best decisions possible going forward.

We can do this now, as a complete board, with better communication and cooperation. We are each committed to make this a positive, productive and professional group to ensure Lantern Farms is strong physically, socially and financially. We want to step back into maintaining our landscaping, mailboxes, walkways, lighting and entrances. We would like to get back to more social events so that neighbors can better meet neighbors, as soon as we can overcome our social distancing challenges.

Financially, we want to be sure that we are strong stewards of our funds, whether it be from annual dues or lingering special assessments from years past. To those that are still struggling with paying these, please let us have a conversation at any time so we can discuss our concerns. We want to clear up the past in order for a straight path forward.

We have a beautiful neighborhood, strong home values, the best looking children, the cutest pets and the most loving families young and old! Let us shine bright the Light of Lantern Farms and share the glow.

Sincerely,

John Riggio President, Lantern Farms Property Owners Association
